Another Idea for Recycling those Old Wire Hangers
By Ron Maier Jr. Now that the age of hangers has shifted and most people have changed to plastic or wooden hangers, there is a surplus of wire hangers, especially those that come from the dry cleaners, scattered around the house or in the floors of closets. Why not uses those old pieces of useful wire to make a fund craft that your kids will enjoy. Not only will it solve the wire hanger problem, but it will also provide a way to keep your childrens minds stimulated and hands busy with an inexpensive craft. In this example, you will learn how to coach your kids through making and designing their own wire mask. Kids love to play dress up, and there is nothing more fun than playing with a mask for make-believe. So grab those unwanted wire clothes hangers around the house along with old knee-high nylons, glue, scissors, markers or crayons, and any other decorative items like glitter, yarn, pipe cleaners, wiggly eyeballs, or fabric scraps. Once you have these items assembled, you are ready to move forward with the craft, so call your kids into the playroom or wherever you have assembled the materials and start of with step one. Using the hook like a handle, bend the triangular shape of the wire clothes hanger into the desired shape of your childs mask. A diamond is very easy and works great since you need only stretch the hanger out by pulling the hook away from the middle of the bottom wire (kind of like drawing a bow and arrow). If you want to get a little more creative you can form the hanger into an oval, square, or any other shape. For example, some kids might like to make a mask for Valentines Day, so you might help them shape the hanger into a heart shape. After the hanger is shaped, the hook of the hanger is now the handle (or holder) for the mask, think of those masquerade style party masks that people hold up to their face. Next, take a knee-high nylon that you collect for this craft and stretch it over the top of the shaped part of the hanger. This will create a flat figure in the shape of the hanger that you bent. If you kids want the mask to look three dimensional, they can even press their face into the stretchy nylon to make the relief of their face through the mask. After you have made the basic form, it is time for the decorating process. To keep it simply, you can just provide markers or other writing utensils for the kids to draw on the nylon with. If you want to get more involved they can use all of the decorative items listed above or more. You would be surprised how much time decorating their mask can take up. It can really be a fun thing to do. Keep seeking new ways to use those old items around the house to have fun with your kids and stimulate their creativity. By Sean Martin Why is it that so many people go to railroad job interviews and dont get hired? Its easy to get carried away and just go to an interview thinking your going to ace it. However the cold hard reality is it takes proper preparation and the right answers to the interviewers questions. Sometimes you will be interviewed by a female and sometimes a male. It makes a big difference to your answers as to who is asking them. Many times you will be interviewed by both. Just because youre interviewing for a blue collar job does not mean you want to show up with a baseball cap on and a five oclock shadow on your face. You still need to dress respectful and clean cut. Another mistake I see potential candidates make is not being prepared. If the railroad sends you a letter or email and asks you to bring certain items to the interview with you then make sure you bring exactly what they ask for. I remember in my interview process two guys showed up without a copy of their application. The email they received from the railroad company said to bring a copy of your application. They did not. They were simply told to leave. No application No job interview If you cant follow simple instructions then they are not going to waste their time interviewing you.

Healthy Weight Loss
By Brenda Jaeck Why are there so many diets? A common question. The answer simple but two-fold. First, people are obsessed with weight loss; everyone wants to be thinner. Secondly, everyones body functions differently. The diet that works for one person may not work for another. In the end, diets do not work. Diets by nature are restrictive and require rules to be followed. Once the goal is achieved and the dieter goes off the diet they typically return to the old eating habits that got them to the place that they needed a diet to begin with. So what can be done? Follow a few simple guidelines. Eat fewer calories than are burned. This can be accomplished either by eating less or exercising more or some combination of the two. The eating plan should be balanced and sustainable. Generally, increasing water consumption goes a LONG way in creating a more balanced eating plan. Water can help with energy fluctuations and cravings. If the body dehydrated it begins to shut down. Craving sweets to help perk us up often counteracts this. Water can also help curb appetite surges. Increasing vegetables in the diet is another way to control calorie consumption. Since most vegetables are relatively low in calories and fiber rich, they keep us full longer with fewer calories. The fiber in the vegetables also gives us energy over a longer period of time. Focusing on WHOLE gains as opposed to processed food is always a good goal. It is almost impossible to overeat on whole grains due to their denseness. Think of gorging yourself on a large plate of pasta and then imagine yourself doing the same thing with a huge plate of brown rice. Not possible. Furthermore, since whole grains have more fiber they also fill us up faster and give us energy over a longer period of time. Lastly, do not overlook the importance of fat. Fat gives us the mouth feel of food. This allows us to be more satisfied with the food we are eating. Again, the result is we eat less. A good example is fat-free cookies; people generally eat more of them than full fat cookies. Fat also slows down the absorption of food, again allowing us to be satisfied for a longer period of time. Focus on healthy fats such as olive oil or avocados. Weight loss is an obsession for so many people. These people have likely bought many diet books and have lost and gained the same weight numerous times. They Probably Don't Like You - Meet Her Friends and Survive!
By Daryl Campbell Wow. You two really click when you're together. So to her it's only natural that you finally meet her friends. "Great, can't wait", you tell her as you break into a cold sweat. You check your calendar in the hopes you have a dentist appointment that week. No such luck. Is it that stressful? It can be. Her friends are very important to her and their opinions have the potential of making or breaking the relationship. For that reason it's crucial that you make a good impression and gain their trust. The first step is to introduce yourself. It tells her friends you have confidence and cannot be intimidated. Intimidation equals manipulation equals no respect and her friends aren't going to go to bat for you if they don't respect you. Taking the initiative also lets her friends know you are not just putting on an act because your girlfriend insists you meet them. Once you get acquainted with her friends do everything possible to remember their names but more than that, DON'T mix up their names later on. It doesn't matter if they all dress and act alike; calling one of her friends by the wrong name is a major gaffe. How bad is it? It's almost as bad as calling your girlfriend by the wrong name (ouch!). Use whatever word association tricks you need to keep the names straight. You're in it now so don't sit there like a statue. Get involved in the conversation .This shows that you are interested in getting to know them. Don't hog the conversation but take an active part. Your girlfriend will appreciate the effort and more important her friends will have no reason not to like youin the beginning at least (Hey that's life. You're trying to be Mr. Wonderful not Captain Perfect). Now comes the balancing act. Your girlfriend may want you to take an interest in her friends but don't go overboard. Getting to know her friends is one thing but if she senses you're flirting (and women are very in tune to that sort of thing) or ignoring her in your effort to be friendly, it can cause problems or doom the relationship. Exercise caution when meeting her friends. Take an interest but not too much. Listen carefully when you meet her friends for the first time. Try to hang on to as much information about them as possible. After the meeting when you're alone with your girlfriend, make a casual comment or ask a question RELATED to the earlier meeting. This lets her know that you were listening and that you have a real interest in getting to know her friends. Again this is a balancing act but for the most part you can pretty much figure that saying "you're girlfriend with the blue dress and cute dimples looked hot" is asking for trouble. Your girlfriend's buddies are probably going to play a significant role in whether or not the relationship survives. Yes, it can seem like one long job interview but try to make a genuine effort to get to know her friends. Since you will probably be spending quite a bit of time with them, starting a courteous, respectful relationship can only make your girlfriend happy and your life a whole lot easier. Loving Your Spouse Unconditionally in Today's Bitter World
By Nichelle Parsons There is so much pain and suffering in this world today and I dont feel like there is enough talking about what it is like to be happily married. Sometimes I am in awe about how unusual it is in this world to see a truly happy married couple. No nagging, no bullsh*t, no rage, no getting even, no ulterior motivesjust unconditional love. Now there is an interesting concept. Unconditional love. What is it? Well, the dictionary describes it as, without conditions or limitations; absolute. The bible describes unconditional as the purest of all loves. It is the love that God has for us and it is that love that allowed our sins to be forgiven 2000 years ago on a wooden cross on Calvary. Unconditional love is usually the kind of love parents share with their children. There are the obvious exceptions but overall, parents love their kids no matter what and without any conditions. You love them when they are good and even when they are bad. You would give them the world if you could and dont expect anything in return. That is unconditional love. But where is the unconditional love in marriage. Two people have pledged their life to one another and yet, there doesnt seem to be any hint of unconditional love anywhere. There is a lot of he hurt me so Ill hurt him back (or vice versa), jealousy, sex is a chore, I am too tired, he just doesnt look like the man I married, she doesnt let me do the things I would like to do, etc. Where is the love? Where is the communication of unconditional love??? Nick and I have been married for one year and seven months. I can honestly say that we love each other unconditionally. Now before you start spouting the whole newlywed thing, just listen to what I have to say. Nick and I have been married for 19 months BUT we have truly known each other since we were born. We are soul mates and that means that our souls have known each other since before we were born. As soul mates, we love each other without condition, restriction and with no ulterior motives. I love Nick more than I love myself and I would give up my life to save his (and he would do the same). That is the true test of love, according to God. Jesus told His disciples that there is no greater love than to give up his life for his friends. And there is no greater friend here on Earth than my husband. I know by now that you are asking yourself, is this woman for real? Does she have some sort of perfect life? Actually my life is quite the opposite from perfection. I am, however, happily married to my soul mate and living the best life I can. Wanna know some secrets to our unconditional love? Secret #1: No matter what happens, always ALWAYS communicate with each other. Talk to each other. Listen to what your partner is really saying. Most all of lifes misunderstandings can be cleared up by just talking about it right away. It is truly as simple as that. Secret #2: I know this again sounds pretty simple but it works. Nick and I tell each other we love each other several times a day. We never know when something horrible could happen (God forbid) and that person could be gone forever. There is never too much when saying how much you love them. Secret #3: Put that person first before anything else. No matter what your friends and family may tell you, it is crucial to always uplift your spouse above all others. They need to know that they are the most important person in your eyes and vice versa. In the land of love, it is you two against the world and that is the truth. You are in a marriage with this person and you have vowed to love, honor and cherish. That means that you honor your spouse by placing them #1 in your eyes. Secret #4: Life is going to throw you curve balls. The key is not to blame each other but to learn how to work together to blast those curve balls out of the park. Working together as a team (and not individuals) enables you both to work through the rough times victoriously. I know that it is possible to love your spouse unconditionally. Drug Companies Profits: Lies, Bribes, and Deceit

That might not seem too astronomical, but when youre talking about an industry that does its business in the billions, it adds up quickly. The drug companies claim that in 2001 it spent far less money on advertisement than it did on research and development (30.3 billion). In this article we will look at how much the drug companies are actually spending on advertisement and how they are manipulating the facts in order sell more prescription medication. Drug companies split advertisement or marketing and administration as they like to call it, (this helps give them another place to say money is being spent other than advertising) into for basic categories: direct to consumer advertising (TV commercials), doctors office solicitation, medical journal advertisement, and free samples for doctors. PhRMA reported in 2001 that the total spending for all the drug companies was $19.1 billion, far less than the $30.3 billion spent on research and development. The fact is the $19.1 was just a portion of it. The reported $19.1 billion should have been a little bit closer to $54 billion, which is 30% of the recorded $179 billion of recorded revenue. So where is the missing $35 billion? In the disclaimer: these figures do not include educational meetings arranged by pharmaceutical companies for physicians, which are not generally considered to be promotional activities. Aside from the usual rounds of golf, free meals, medical conferences, and free samples, a good example of a drug company bribing doctors to use their products is the Lupron case. When Lupron, a hormone treatment for prostate cancer, began to face competition from Zoladex, a new drug in the same market, the makers of Lupron found a way to keep doctors prescribing their medication over the new alternative. Lupron inflated their price of a dose of their medication to $500 and then sold it to doctors for $350. Medicare would then pay $500 for the medication and the doctors would get to keep the left over, using taxpayer money to provide monetary incentive for doctors to prescribe their drug. How to Use Essential Oils

Room Fresheners There are a wide variety of oil burners available on the market. It does not matter which type you have - you just need to add a few drops of essential oil to the burner with some water to freshen up your room. Alternatively you could make a room spray, by adding a few drops of essential oil to water in a spray bottle to spritz the room. Try a lavender spray which you can use on your pillows just before bedtime for a good nights sleep. Baths This is my favourite way to use essential oils as lying in a nice hot bath gets me in just the right frame of mind to enjoy them. Blend 5-10 drops essential oil in a teaspoon of base oil. Add to the bath once it has been run. It will stay on the surface of the water and will be easily inhaled. Alternatively, if you want the oil to mix with water, blend 5-10 drops essential oil in a tablespoon of full fat milk and add to your bath. Showers If you prefer a shower, add 6 drops of essential oil to the shower tray before turning on the taps. Try stimulating oils to give you an energy boost and get you going in the morning. If you're feeling brave finish your shower with a cold burst of water for two minutes to boost your circulation. Inhalations Add 4-6 drops of essential oil to a bowl of steaming hot water. Sit with a towel over your head and the bowl as you inhale the vapour - this method is not suitable for asthma sufferers or young children. Alternatively add 4 drops of essential oil to a handkerchief. Hold to your nose and inhale every few moments. Massage For a single massage, blend 2-3 drops of essential oil in 10ml carrier oil (sweet almond is good for a massage). Do not use more than a total of 5 drops of different oils per massage. Compresses Add 6 drops of essential oil to a bowl of warm water. Soak a clean cloth in the water - then place the cloth on the affected area.
